A great way for students to prepare for returning to school is through reading! Below are some book suggestions that your child can read to prepare! Reading a book about going to school is a great way to start a conversation about how your child feels about returning to school. Ask them what they are most excited or nervous about the new year, or begin planning your routines for before and after school times! (All books listed below can be found through the public library!)

With positive friendships, children learn a wide variety of social skills important for life.
At QE, we foster positive relationships and encourage relationship building in various ways. New for this year, we have added a Buddy Bench to our playground to help students develop those strong friendships. The Buddy Bench was originally the idea of a second grader from York, PA. The idea of the Buddy Bench is to give students a place to go when they can’t find someone to play with at recess. Here’s how it works:
Quarryville Elementary has opened a Swappe Shoppe. This shop is a free clothing resource for Solanco families. Items available include boys and girls gently-used clothing in sizes 4T to 16/18. At the shoppe, you will find shirts, pants, shorts, socks, underwear, tights, shoes, boots, jackets/coats, winter accessories, leotards and dance-wear, pajamas, bathrobes, and swimsuits! If you are interested in making a donation, please feel free to drop off gently-used items to Quarryville Elementary between the hours of 8 AM and 3PM. Currently, we are particularly in need of girls pants/shorts sizes 10 to 16. |
