Individual Counseling
While school counselors do not provide therapy, there are times when a student may work with me individually for brief, action-oriented sessions. There are three ways a counseling referral can be made: student referral, teacher/staff referral, or parent referral. Student referrals occur through school counselor slips that are located in each classroom. Teachers, staff, and parents can make referrals by contacting the school counselor. |
Small Group Counseling
Group counseling involves the counselor working with 3-6 students on developing skills surrounding a same or similar issue or concern. During groups, students may participate in discussions, activities, role playing, and other learning experiences. I always ask for parent permission before a student participates in a group. Groups typically last for 6-8 weeks, and topics vary throughout the school year based on need. The following are typical group topics covered during the year:

Classroom Counseling Lessons
Throughout the year, I will visit each classroom and present lessons on various topics. Lessons are typically 30 to 45 minutes in length. |
